Vistara launches flights to Trivandrum from Delhi, Chennai

NEW DELHI: Vistara became the first airline to launch new flights to Trivandrum to evacuate passengers stuck in Kerala due to floods caused by unprecedented rains.“We are operating special flights to TRV (Trivandrum) in view of COK (Kochi) airport closure for the next three days. Flights will operate from DEL and MAA (Chennai). We do not normally operate to TRV, and have made special arrangements,” Vistara’s chief strategy and commercial officer tweeted today. Vistara does not even operate to Trivandrum currently and has launched this flight after the airport was shut today due to floods. The airline operates to Kochi though. The operations from the airport has been suspended till Saturday. Rains in Kerala led to flooding, causing 45 deaths in the state so far, and the state government has sounded the red alert in about 12 districts in the state. Kerala has also opened 33 of its dams, a first in its history.
